This is what the left’s anti-ICE rhetoric produces. A man walked up to 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan Monday morning, poured flammable liquid outside the entrance, and set it on fire. On camera. In broad daylight. With a cart full of additional weapons nearby.
He has now been arrested. He is believed to be a protester with a documented history of anti-ICE activity. Two people suffered minor injuries. The fire was extinguished before it reached the building — the same building that houses ICE, the FBI, and the immigration court where people are processed every day.
This is domestic terrorism. The FBI is investigating it as exactly that:

Let’s be direct about the context this happened in. For months — years, really — the American left has been engaged in a systematic campaign to delegitimize federal immigration enforcement. “Abolish ICE” is not a fringe position in the Democratic Party anymore. It has been championed by sitting members of Congress, elevated by progressive media, and embedded in the activist networks that fund Democratic campaigns and turn out Democratic voters. The mayor of New York City has been threatening to arrest the Prime Minister of Israel on behalf of a terror-sympathizing movement while simultaneously presiding over a city that has made law enforcement increasingly difficult for the federal agents now targeted by this attack.
Words have consequences. Rhetoric that portrays ICE agents as storm troopers operating an occupation force in American cities doesn’t stay abstract. It eventually finds someone willing to act on it — someone who decides that if ICE is the enemy, then the building that houses ICE is a legitimate target.
That’s what happened Monday at Federal Plaza.
Tom Homan was not subtle about his response, and he shouldn’t be. The man who has spent two years as the face of federal immigration enforcement — who has been personally threatened, whose agents have been rammed by vehicles, whose officers have been attacked at courthouses and on traffic stops — watched video of a man setting fire to the building where his people work and said what needed to be said.
The video exists. The arrest has been made. The investigation is underway as a potential terrorist act. What comes next matters enormously — both the prosecution of the individual responsible and the broader accountability question of what environment produced him.
Marco Rubio stood before 65 foreign delegations last week and warned that far-left extremist violence was reaching levels not seen in decades, that these networks were coordinating across borders, and that the United States was going to treat this threat as the terrorism it is.
He was right. Federal Plaza is proof.
The left spent years telling us Antifa was just an idea. Monday morning, that idea showed up at a federal building in Lower Manhattan with flammable liquid and a cart full of weapons.
